EMPOWER SHREWSBURY PROGRAMS ("E.S.P.")
Here are some of the services SYFS provides to families or individuals who may be economically disadvantaged or may need support for basic needs:
- Case management/advocacy. Our staff can assist clients in accessing resources in the community, including finding the right treatment / service providers for particular issues (e.g. home-care providers, prescribing psychiatrists, shelters for the homeless, etc.). The "social work" provided is done on a case-by-case basis, and matches clients' individual needs.
- Holiday Assistance Programs. Supporting families in need with meals and other items to make their holidays brighter.
- Housing Referral Assistance. Support services to aid those at-risk for homelessness or those experiencing shelter issues.
-
Resources Assistance / Quality of Life Programs. This is a service that includes assisting folks with Home Heating / Fuel Assistance (through our partnership with SMOC), Share-the-Warmth Program, and other financial assistance programs. The focus of this service is to provide those in the greatest need with support and access to community resources.
- Shrewsbury Oil Relief Assistance Program (S.O.A.R.)

S.O.A.R. = Shrewsbury Oil Assistance Relief
This is a new program designed to provide one-time emergency relief for people without heat (oil users) this winter.
This program is not designed to subsidize or provide discounts for heating expenses.
Fundraising for this unique, independent emergency fund is underway.
