Programs & Services
SYFS is proud to provide an array of programs and services to assist our clients. Our agency provides services within three distinct program categories:
OUTPATIENT COUNSELING AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS
- Individual Counseling. 1:1 therapy/counseling sessions addressing a wide range of symptoms, including depression, anxiety, anger management, low self-esteem, substance abuse, grief/loss, social skill-building, family conflicts, etc.
- Family Counseling. Sessions with various family members and couples, as needed.
- Therapeutic Groups. Facilitated by a professional clinician, these are structured psychotherapy groups specializing in particular topics, including anger management, Girls' Self-Esteem, violence intervention, etc.
- Support Groups. These are groups intended to offer clients an opportunity to meet with other clients to gain support and share insights on specific issues. Topics have included victims of violence, parenting support, grief/loss, etc.
- Specialized Evaluations and Assessments. These can be arranged to help diagnose a particular mental health issue, or provide a professional assessment of functioning for a specific issue or circumstance.
- Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (V.I.P.). These are specialized services that are networked together in the spirit of providing various components addressing violence, including prevention, crisis planning, and intervention. Please see SYFS staff for more details.

Partnership for Healthy Pathways (PHP)

You Go, Girl! Summer and Afterschool Groups
Designed for girls age 11-14, this innovative group allows girls to enhance their social and relationship skills, have access to positive female role models and female community leaders, and develop their self-esteem, confidence, and leadership skills! This group is very much activity based, with field trips, fun group activities, and community service projects. Click HERE for more info!
T.R.A.I.L.BLAZERS:
The SHREWSBURY YOUTH LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
- A week long program every JULY designed to give teens the skills and experience necessary to become active leaders within their community
- Effective and proven leadership styles and approaches will be discussed
- Teams compete in daily leadership challenges for PRIZE$and a possible $CHOLAR$HIP
- Relevant and exciting Community Service Projects completed by each team for local organizations!

EMPOWER SHREWSBURY PROGRAMS ("E.S.P.")
Here are some of the services SYFS provides to families or individuals who may be economically disadvantaged or may need support for basic needs:
- Case management/advocacy. Our staff can assist clients in accessing resources in the community, including finding the right treatment / service providers for particular issues (e.g. home-care providers, prescribing psychiatrists, shelters for the homeless, etc.). The "social work" provided is done on a case-by-case basis, and matches clients' individual needs.

Resources Assistance / Quality of Life Programs. This is a service that includes assisting folks with Home Heating / Fuel Assistance (through our partnership with SMOC), Share-the-Warmth Program, and other financial assistance programs. The focus of this service is to provide those in the greatest need with support and access to community resources.
- Shrewsbury Oil Relief Assistance Program (S.O.A.R.)

- Holiday Assistance Programs. Supporting families in need with meals and other items to make their holidays brighter.
- Housing Referral Assistance. Support services to aid those at-risk for homelessness or those experiencing shelter issues.
